Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Zhongnan Branch is a private university for higher education affirmed by the Ministry of Education and is conferred with the title of “First-rate private university of Higher Education in China” by the China Education Federation in 2004. The university is located at No.18, Jiang Xia Avenue, Wuchang, Wuhan City, covering an area of 1,280 mu with a total floor space of over 400,000 square meters. According to the survey released by china alumni association, it was ranked as the third among the private universities nationwide in 2006. Moreover, it was awarded as one of the 20 core private universities by sina, uschool and webo. It is a comprehensive university with emphasis on engineering and business. It also offers other courses like engineering, economics, management, literature, law, medical science and agricultural science. The university has 8 schools including the School of Business, Information Engineering, Foreign Language, Architecture, Literature and Law, Arts, Life Science and International Exchange with 44 different majors of 3 and 4 years' study. About 15,000 undergraduates are currently enrolled here.

The university is carrying an advanced educational theory, experienced school operation and cultivating pattern both at home and abroad to explore brand-new ways of education. The Unique educational concept of “Success-oriented Education” was initially created and practiced so as the Tutor system and non-specialized credit system. Teaching reforms were actively promoted and teaching quality was constantly improved in order to reach the goal of “Success-oriented Education” notion. The percentage of students/graduates who have acquired the bachelor's degree from our university has already reached 80 percent. The result of CET-4 and CET-6 is on the top of the list as compared to other universities of the same kind and level. Employment rate of the graduate students has reached 92 percent, ranking the first among all the others.

The university has a teaching staff of over 590 full-time teachers. Among them, over 220 are professors and associate professors. 60% of the teachers are with junior or senior title and over 34% with the Master's degree. 150 full-time tutors, 9 native speaker English teachers and over 240 part-time teachers make and complete the faculty. More practice centers and labs are being constructed to create more learning environment for the students. The whole campus is equipped with first-rate internet connection. There are more than 900,000 volumes of books, 800 kinds of foreign and domestic magazines, and 200 computers installed with large-sized library data bank in the modern library of the school. Our university is well equipped with modern educational facilities with 112 labs and over 30 bases for outdoor trainings.

The university gives the students a wonderful studying and living environment by providing them with a western-styled library, a three-star academic exchange center, a standard stadium and multi-functional teaching rooms in every college building. It has 22 standard students' dormitory buildings, which can accommodate 16,000 students, a school hospital, supermarket and a post office which give convenience to the daily life of the students.

Approved by the Ministry of Education, the university is open to accept and recruit regular students for 3 and 4 years' programs from 30 provinces all over the country. New students will be enrolled according to the scores and levels of the schools regulated by the local education department where the students are from. After being enrolled, the university will help the students register their residency in the local address. After attaining all their required credits, the students will get the graduation certification for their 3 or 4 years' study acknowledged by the state and for those who are qualified with bachelor's degree can be conferred with the bachelor's degree title of Wuhan University of Science and Technology.
